Quilt challenge self portrait

I was born into sewing. My parents owned a sewing company in Minnesota, where I was lucky enough to work with my family for 26 years. After a couple of non-sewing related adventures, my days are now filled with the joy of quilting.

I started quilting when I moved from Minnesota to New York State in 2008. I now live in Piney Flats, TN where I design quilts, write quilt patterns, and do my own quilting on a hand-guided Innova longarm.

Unlike many quilters, I am NOT a fabric collector. I love fabric, but have ZERO need to own it ALL. I do have an ENORMOUS love of sewing tools and equipment. I can hardly pass up a new gadget or product, BUT, if I do not fall in LOVE with it, it is GONE! Having a background in industrial sewing, I know quality equipment, and do not waste my time with things that do not live up to the hype. When it comes to my sewing machine, my favorite is my Singer 301.

Studio 180 Designs Graduation Day

At the beginning of my quilting journey, a good friend suggested I start my quilting tool arsenal with the Tucker Trimmer™. I was hooked after I purchased my next tool from Studio 180, the V-Block™. Eventually I acquired every Studio 180 tool and it seemed a logical next step to become a certified Studio 180 instructor. My dream came true in February 2020.

I currently teach Tucker University, a series of classes featuring Studio 180 tools. I design small projects for my students to practice using their new tools, and post them from time to time as free downloads available here.

Deb even liked my little machine, she used it to whip up a quick sample during our training class.

Here I am at Quilt Market

One of the greatest opportunities I’ve ever had is to design and make sample quilts for The World of Susybee. Quilts I’ve designed using their adorable fabric panels have been displayed in the Susybee booth at International Quilt Market. In Schoolhouse sessions at Quilt Market, I’ve shared my designs showing fun ways to use a panel. 2021 virtual schoolhouse video here.

My heartfelt wish is that everyone finds something in life that makes them as happy as I am when I am quilting.
