🧵✨ Quilt Binding Made Easy! ✨🧵
1. Quilt the layers together: Start by sandwiching your quilt top, batting, and backing fabric together. Quilt the layers together, making sure not to quilt beyond the quilt top.
2. Trim the batting: Once you've finished quilting, trim the excess batting so that it is even with the quilt top.
3. Trim the quilt back: Trim the quilt back fabric, leaving a 1” from the quilt top. This will allow for the backing to be wrapped around to the front.
4. Wrap the backing fabric: Fold backing fabric toward the front of the quilt, creating a fold of about 1/2”. Fold it over again another 1/2”, encasing the raw edge of the backing fabric.
5. Miter the corners: To create mitered corners, fold the backing fabric diagonally at each corner, aligning it with the quilt's edge as shown in video. This will create a clean and neat corner when the binding is folded over.
6. Machine stitch: To secure the binding in place by machine, stitch approximately 1/2” from the outside edge of the quilt using either a straight or decorative stitch.
By following these steps, you'll achieve a stitch and wrap binding technique for your quilt.
Happy Stitching!!
